Don't take my word for it look at what our customers say…

"Thank you very much for the Solar Electricity. You installed a great system with no hassles. You really went out of your way to help me find the best possible system and you always answered my calls or you would called me back promptly. You and your company were very reliable and I would recommend you to anybody. I feel I got my money's worth and I would happily do business with you once again."
— Lyn from Maidstone (VIC)

"Well what can I say, Anthony phoned me and I told him what I was after (a 5kw system) and how much I had to spend, within 24 hours he called back with a package worked out that was better then all my other quotes, he also sent thru the specs of the panels and the specs on the inverter, to say I'm pleased with the work that New Eden Energy did would be an understatement.
Garry and the Guys that installed the system were terrific they told me exactly what they were going to do and answered all my questions, then upon completion they walked me through the system and explained in layman's terms what the inverter was telling me on the screen, once again I would just like to thank Anthony and his team at New Eden Energy for a great product for a great price with a great team of installers, I have already told 3 friends about you guys and will continue to spread the good word to whoever asks."

— Cheers Chris (QLD)

"Thanks for arranging the new Solar installation at my residence in Mooroolbark. My wife was home when Sam and his apprentice arrived and was genuinely impressed with his demeanour and professional outlook. Well done. He even removed the excess packaging. Thank you."
— R Hume (Mooroolbark VIC)

"Thanks Anthony for your business. They were a polite and professional crew and I am very happy with the installation."
— Y Spronk (Loveday SA)

"A very good experience with New Eden Energy. Excellent customer service all the way through. Very professional team of installers."
— Coralie (SA)

"I originally began ringing around and got sick of people not getting back to me. I then went through Solar Quotes. They put me in contact with a gentleman by the name of Anthony Prior. He had a quote for me within 24 hours of contact and the system has been installed with 4 weeks of my acceptance. They had stock here in Melbourne and only use quality material. They have taken care of all the paperwork to get rebates and connection to the grid with the power company. I chose a 5 kilowatt system which not only eliminates my power bill but should pay for itself in about 5 years through the feed in tariffs available. A bigger outlay initially but in the mid term will benefit me and long term, hopefully make me some money. I did get quotes from other companies and most others I received quotes from were going to take between 8-12 weeks and were on average $1500 – $3000 more expensive for the same systems."
— Toby (Riddells Creek VIC)

"I live in Brisbane and recently had 12 solar panels, an inverter and other components fitted to my house. I purchased and had the system installed by New Eden Energy. All aspects of the process were carried out efficiently and professionally. I look forward to seeing a huge reduction in my power bill or even some cash back in the future!"

What Is Solar Power?

Solar power is the technology of harnessing and producing usable energy from the sun's light.

It is already used in a number of ways such as heating, electricity generation, and desalination of seawater. Solar electric power, converting sunlight into electricity, is called photovoltaic (PV) power generation.

There are many advantages in using solar energy to generate electricity.

  • It's Clean
  • It's Quiet
  • It's Renewable
  • It's Self sufficient
  • It's Non-polluting
  • It's Lightweight
  • There are no Running Costs
  • It's Scalable
  • It's Portable

How Does It Work?

Photovoltaic devices, generally called solar cells, consist of two or more thin layers of semi-conducting material, usually silicon.

The layers are given opposite charges; one positive, one negative. When sunlight strikes the solar cell, electrons are knocked loose and move toward the treated front surface of the solar cell. This creates an electron imbalance between the front and back of the cell and creates a direct current (DC) which is converted to AC current and then fed back into the house's electrical network.

PV cells are typically encapsulated between sheets of glass in a solar panel. The panels are then connected together to form a solar array.

The amount of energy generated by the solar array will vary according to the level of sunlight and time of year. In the summer months the system will typically generate five times the power generated during winter.

Historically the use of solar cells has been limited due to expensive manufacturing costs and relatively low solar cell efficiency. More recently, advances in research and scale of production have both reduced costs and increased efficiency.

What Makes Up A Solar System?

A solar system has three main components.

  • Panel The panel we recommend  is a mono crystalline panel. These panels are a proven technology that have been in use for over 50 years. They have the highest efficiency of 12-15% in the real world, meaning that fewer panels are required to produce a given amount of energy. They are commonly used where space is limited, or where there are high costs associated with installing large panels. They have a very slow degradation, generally losing 0.25-0.5% per year.
  • Inverter Solar PV panels produce low voltage DC electricity. The inverter converts this into the AC electricity needed to supply power for standard appliances. The efficiency of an inverter is measured by how well it converts the DC electricity into AC electricity. This usually ranges from 95% to 97.5% for most models. Check the inverter's specifications before you purchase. Inverters are sized according to the power (watts) they can supply. There are three origins of brand: German, European and Chinese.
  • Rail We supply only leading quality rail that is aluminium anodised ensuring that the rail will support the 25 year warranty to your panels.

What Angle Should Solar Panels Be On?

Solar PV panels produce most power when they are pointed directly at the sun. In Australia, solar modules should face north for optimum electricity production. The orientation of the panels will often have a greater effect on annual energy production than the angle they are tilted at. A minimum tilt of 10 degrees is recommended to ensure self cleaning by rainfall.

For grid-connected solar PV power systems, the solar panels should be positioned at the angle of latitude to maximise the amount of energy produced annually. Most Australian homes have a roof pitch of 20 degrees to 30 degrees.

How much power do they generate in Victoria on an average day?

Average Production Daily (performance will vary based on  number of factors)

  • 1.5 KW System – 5.4KWH
  • 2 KW System – 7.2 KWH
  • 3 KW System – 10.8 KWH
  • 5 KW System – 18 KWH

What Is A Feed-In Tariff?

Feed-In Tariffs are State Government incentives that require your electricity retailer to pay you a premium for the solar electricity you generate. The rate you are paid varies by state and your energy retailer, but in most cases it is two to three times the amount you pay for electricity. The eligible system size also varies by state.

There are two types;

GROSS Feed-In Tariff: Here you are paid a premium for all the solar electricity you generate. So it doesn't matter how much solar electricity you use yourself.

NET Feed-In Tariff: In this case you only get paid a premium for your unused solar electricity that you export to the electricity grid. So the less solar power you use, the more you export and the more money you will earn.

What Are STC/RECS?

RECs act as solar credits which provide additional support your households, businesses and community groups that install small renewable energy units such as solar panels.

RECs, more recently referred to as STC (Small Scale Technology Certificates) are an electronic form of currency created by the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000 (also known as the RET Scheme).

One REC is equivalent to one megawatt hour of electricity generated by your solar PV power system. You can register, sell, trade or surrender RECs for systems up to 100kw.
